Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Emergency Room (ER) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights, every other weekend, First to Float Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: Ability to read and interpret EKG strips Job Description: - Complete required modules before the start of the assignment. - Work two of the three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year. - Pass the dysrhythmia exam (basic) through Relias within 24-48 hours upon acceptance, with two attempts allowed. - Attend facility-wide orientation during the first week. - Provide nursing care in a 14-bed Emergency Department. - Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio. - Utilize Cerner EMR for charting. - Provide relief support as a Charge Nurse as needed. - Work alongside nurse aides as determined by census and staffing needs. - Be adaptable to every other weekend scheduling. - Rotate holiday schedules with core staff. - Wear navy scrubs; undershirts can be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets are optional and must be navy. - Ensure readiness to handle standard ED patient population, including chest pain, common cold, MI, CVA, and trauma stabilization and transfers. - Be flexible with scheduling, as self-scheduling is used but finalized by the manager. - Participate in floor-specific orientation for 1-2 days with a preceptor. - Access schedules from home and make themselves available for extra shifts and shift trades. - Be prepared for potential schedule cancellations, up to three times per contract.
